Mansion Sports - Barcelona and Spain national team rising star Lamine Yamal is currently facing possible legal consequences and serious reputational damage following his recent 18th birthday celebration. 

The event, which took place last weekend on Saturday night in a coastal town near Barcelona, has sparked widespread controversy due to alleged violations involving individuals with disabilities.

Approximately 250 guests were in attendance at the celebration, which occurred just one day before Barcelona players were scheduled to return for pre-season medical testing. While several of Yamal’s teammates reportedly left the party early, the high-profile and celebrity-laden event has since drawn both public scrutiny and potential legal action.

Legal Complaint Filed by Dwarfism Advocacy Group

The Association for Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias with Dwarfism (ADEE) has officially announced its intention to take legal action against Lamine Yamal. 

According to multiple reports, individuals with dwarfism were hired to provide entertainment during the birthday party, a practice considered illegal under Spanish law.

The ADEE contends that such actions violate Spanish disability protection legislation, which expressly prohibits any form of entertainment that could be seen as degrading or mocking individuals with disabilities. 

Yamal reportedly shared footage of the event on his personal social media account on Monday afternoon, further reinforcing public suspicion about the nature of the celebration.

Spanish Government Calls for Official Investigation

In response to ADEE’s public statement, the Spanish government moved swiftly. The Ministry of Social Rights has formally requested an investigation by the Office of the Attorney General, involving Spain’s Hate Crimes Prosecution Unit.

As reported by Marca, the investigation will seek to determine whether Yamal’s actions constitute a violation of Spain’s Disability Law, particularly concerning any humiliation or mistreatment of persons with disabilities in an entertainment context.

Jesús Martín, Director General for Disability, confirmed that authorities have requested clarification on whether individuals with dwarfism were subjected to degrading treatment during the celebration. 

If Yamal is found guilty, such a serious offense could carry fines ranging from €600,000 to €1 million.

Speculation Mounts After Alleged Comment to Peter Dinklage

The controversy escalated further following rumors that Yamal had commented on the Instagram account of acclaimed actor Peter Dinklage, one of the world’s most prominent figures with dwarfism, best known for his role in Game of Thrones. 

It was claimed that Yamal urged Dinklage to check his direct messages, adding another layer of intrigue to the incident.

However, the authenticity of this alleged comment remains uncertain. The account in question was not a fan page but Dinklage’s real profile, and the comment in question has not been found on any of his posts. 

Some speculate that the comment was deleted, while others believe it may have been fabricated or manipulated.

Barcelona Yet to Issue an Official Statement

As of now, FC Barcelona has not released any official comment regarding the incident. Yamal has since returned to training on Sunday, just one day after his birthday party.

Nevertheless, if the allegations from ADEE are proven to be true, Yamal could be subject to serious legal proceedings—a development that may have profound consequences for his career trajectory and public image as one of football’s most promising young talents.
