Mansion Sports - Amid growing excitement among Arsenal supporters regarding the potential arrival of Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP, renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has issued a measured update on the situation. 

Speaking via his official YouTube channel, Romano clarified that although negotiations are progressing positively, no official agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs.

Romano emphasized the importance of patience during the negotiation process and urged fans to allow discussions to unfold without premature assumptions.

Agreement Not Finalized, But Negotiations Are Progressing Well

In his recent update, Fabrizio Romano addressed widespread misconceptions among Arsenal fans who believed the transfer had already been completed.

“I keep receiving numerous questions from Arsenal supporters about Viktor Gyökeres. I understand there’s a belief that the deal is done. But that is not the case. However, that doesn’t mean it won’t happen,” Romano stated.

He confirmed that Arsenal and Sporting CP have made substantial progress in negotiations and are currently engaged in advanced discussions. Still, the two clubs have yet to formally agree on the transfer fee, and the deal remains in progress.

Gyökeres Has Agreed to Personal Terms, Refuses to Train with Sporting

Romano further revealed that Gyökeres has already agreed to personal terms with Arsenal on a five-year contract. 

Moreover, the Swedish striker has taken a firm stance regarding his current situation at Sporting CP.

“Gyökeres has made his intentions very clear to Sporting—he will not attend training. He no longer wants to play or train for the club. He wants to join Arsenal,” Romano declared.

This move underscores the player’s strong desire and determination to complete the transfer and join Mikel Arteta’s squad as soon as possible.

Transfer Fee Remains the Key Obstacle

Although personal terms have been settled, the transfer is being delayed by differing valuations between Arsenal and Sporting. Both clubs remain actively engaged in talks to bridge the financial gap.
