Benjamin Šeško Reveals Reasons for Choosing Manchester United

Mansion Sports - In an exclusive interview with the club, Benjamin Šeško has shared the reasons behind his decision to join Manchester United this summer, following a lengthy and competitive transfer saga.

The Slovenian striker was signed by the Red Devils for an initial fee of €76.5 million (£66.3 million or $89.1 million), with an additional €8.5 million in potential bonuses.

He becomes the club’s third major signing of the summer after Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, while also making history as the first Slovenian player to represent Manchester United.

Prior to this move, Šeško had been heavily linked with Arsenal during the previous transfer window.

However, the deal did not materialize after the Gunners opted to sign Viktor Gyökeres instead.

Manchester United’s pursuit quickly gained momentum amid strong competition from Newcastle United, ultimately resulting in the Red Devils securing his signature.

During the interview, Šeško explained the main factors that influenced his choice ahead of the upcoming season.

“First and foremost, it’s because of this club. This is an incredible historic club. For me, the team is fantastic and continues to grow,” he said.

“That is what made me want to come here, to bring energy and be part of this team. Overall, this is a very exciting project and I cannot wait to get started.”

Ruben Amorim’s Role in the Transfer Decision

Šeško also expressed his appreciation for head coach Ruben Amorim and the role he played in facilitating the move.

“Of course, this is a very important thing in football in general. He is a great figure, an outstanding coach,” Šeško stated.

Impressive Statistics from Last Season

In the previous Bundesliga campaign, Šeško scored 13 goals, along with eight more across the Champions League and DFB-Pokal competitions.

The 22-year-old striker is expected to take on a leading role in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, supported by other summer signings and key players such as Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, and Amad Diallo.

Impact on Manchester United’s Forward Line Competition

Šeško’s arrival has sparked questions regarding the futures of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee this summer.

If fit, he could have the opportunity to showcase his abilities early, when Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League opener for both teams.
